At PhycoHealth, we believe skincare is personal — because skin itself is wildly, wonderfully individual. Some people need just a splash of water and a smile to glow. Others juggle hydration serums, rich creams, and targeted oils to coax their skin into comfort. And neither is wrong.
Just like some of us are better equipped to handle sun exposure thanks to melanin-rich skin, others naturally produce more skin oils that help delay visible signs of aging. Meanwhile, those with drier skin (or even just dry patches) often need extra care to maintain comfort and elasticity. It’s all part of the natural spectrum.
The True Spectrum of Skin
Skin isn’t just “dry, oily, or combination.” In fact, dermatologists have created dozens of systems to classify skin — from the Fitzpatrick scale (based on sun sensitivity) to newer models that consider pigmentation, oil levels, reactivity, microbiome profiles, and more.
And if you’re looking for an artistic take on this, Angélica Dass’s Humanae project matched more than 4,000 human skin tones to Pantone colours — and she’s still counting.
Now imagine if we multiplied all of these skin variables together...
oil levels × tone × sun response × microbiome × age × stress levels × sleep × humidity ×...
We’re no longer dealing with 3 or 4 skin types. We’re challenged with caring for approximately 1.73 bazillion unique skin personalities (give or take). That’s why no one routine works for everyone — and why we design ours to flex and flow with you.
Your Personalised Seaweed-Powered Routine
Take our Quiz to start your journey, but think about these things as well for a little understanding of why you may not be recommended these products and how to layer them.
1. Start with Hydration
Begin with a water-loving serum like Soothe — packed with our marine Phyaluronic Acid. This draws moisture into your skin’s upper layers and preps it to absorb the next steps. Apply it to clean, slightly damp skin and let it sink in.
2. Lock it in with Moisture
Next comes Nourish — our antioxidant-rich seaweed cream that delivers emollients and light occlusion. This layer holds moisture in, supports barrier function, and provides those healthy fats your skin craves (like shea butter and marine polysaccharides).
3. Add Oil for Extra TLC
Finally, facial oils like rosehip or argan can be layered on top, either across your face or in spots that need extra care. Oils act more as sealants — they lock everything in, but don’t provide hydration on their own. That’s why they come last.
No rules - just your way...
Skin care isn’t about following a strict rulebook — it’s about listening to your skin, knowing what each product does, and using them in the right order to give your skin the best chance to shine. Check out our range or take our Quiz to help you to find your sequence.
Whether you’re Team Minimal or Team Maximal, you can build a seaweed-powered regime that works for your unique skin code.
And if in doubt — just let it sink in - Phyaluronic that is..... 😉
